Arri Alexa M 3D camera - NAB 2011

Great news for 3D production, as Arri announces the Alexa “M” camera, a new camera system with a separate head and body, with no compromise to image quality. Basically, they took the “brain,” or the sensor, and detached it from the rest of the body. The head and body connected via fiber optic cable that’s used to power the head. It’s optimized for small size and low weight, ideal for 3D rigs or tight spaces. They included multiple mounting points, so rigging to 3D rigs will be easy. Best of all, the image quality and workflow is exactly the same as the original Arri Alexa.

You need two of these to shoot 3D…that’s why they made a small one, so it wont be so cumbersome with two.
